Usually evening news anchor changes do not warrant a posting, but this one involves hometown girl Diane Sawyer. She announced earlier today that she will be stepping down from the ABC WOLRD NEWS anchor desk on September 2nd, her backup David Muir will be taking over the anchor duties.

Sawyer, 68, who attended Seneca High School and U of L, will continue to do special projects. The head of ABC NEWS said;
“As much as she loved leading World News to new heights — with so much important, brilliant and impactful reporting and a number one finish in the May sweep — Diane decided that now is the moment to concentrate full time on tackling big issues in new ways,” ABC News chief James Goldston told staffers Wednesday morning in a memo obtained by The News.
